Extremely friendly reception -superb views from 1st floor room; distinct feeling of isolation outside the hotel;catering and staff service brilliant
Friendly welcome and relaxed stay . Liked having the swimming pool facility wish we had used it more than the twice we were in. Food very good and freszhly prepared using local ingredients.Think we had a superior room as we had beautiful views of the loch.
Was a little isolated and we needed to drive to explore the surrounding area, but no faults with hotel .
Great Location, great staff, although these seem very overworked or understaffed. Both amount to the same thing.Service was good, however it did seem that they were very flustered all the time. McDonald Hotels should employ enough staff for this to at least not seem obvious there are not enough on duty,
Breakfast was slow (35mins) and really small. (so am I)
The setting was wonderful and the staff could not have been more helpful. We enjoyed the pool and sauna and breakfast was a real hit with the family!
Very comfortable bed, spacious room, and general ambience.
Find unpolished shoes on hotel staff to be sub-standard. Poor English language comprehension with some male staff members. the presentation of stale bread with a meal was unforgiveable.
Well equipped comfortable room and bathroom. Leisure facilities useful for wet weather.
No wi-fi in rooms and chargeable in public areas. Plus poor phone reception in the area so mobile internet not an alternative. Bad practice that welcome letter addressed to male partner when booking made in female's name. Poor veggie options at breakfast and dinner. Very expensive food & wine.
Quality and comfort, good food and service, breathtaking location.
No real variation of the evening dinner menu, over three nights.
Very Little to like.
Arrived having booked the hotel as "pet friendly" to be met with a no dogs sign. Advised dog was not allowed in any part of the hotel other than our room. Staff in the hotel were very unfriendly and unhelpfull, Arrived for breakfast on the Sunday to have my name taken and advised to wait as the restaurant was busy sat with an other six couples who had been told the same. forty minutes later was allowed to enter for breakfast. tables all piled up with breafast dishes and nobody tidying or removing. I challanged the person in charge of breakfast that the delay was due to lack of staff to be able to manage properly, was told staff had were off ill but it was the same staff that was on duty hole weekend.
All round happy staff and excellent location, off the beaten track....
Distance from reception of room?
The bar was extremely over priced considering there was nothing on
The hotel was very warm and comfortable, very home from home. We ate in the bar in the evening and the food was good, a bit on the pricey side but good size portions. Breakfast is excellent, very tasty and well cooked. The staff are very friendly and took time to chat with us in the evening. I liked the quiet location of the hotel and the stunning view of the loch from our bedroom window. The pool was warm and there was a good gym. Overall a very good 3 star hotel.
localisation is such beauty. good but small range of facilities like swimming pool , sauna or restaurant
poor choices of food in bar lounge, when restaurant is too expensive
The welcome was excellent, and most of the staff were really helpful and friendly. The swimming pool and spa facilities were a delight, even though it was all tiny. Breakfast was excellent; lots of fresh produce, fruit and yoghurt as well as the traditional fried products. The waiting staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The bar staff were cheerful and very helpful also, and helped to make an uplifting atmosphere for us all.
One member of staff... A larger lady on the reception desk, treated our inquiries about the lack of hot water and heating as if we were being deliberately annoying to her personally. The hot water was not working in the older part of the building for several hours and we were cold. The great housekeeper brought us a heater and apologised, the lady on reception made no apology. We were not alone in having no hot water, we were part of a large group who had come for a funeral and many had travelled much further than us. The food, apart from breakfast, was just embarrassing. The lunch after the funeral consisted of nothing but carbohydrates and fat...thick sandwiches with minimal fillings, sausage rolls and pastries with similar thin fillings, and absolutely no fruit or vegetables in sight. Dinner was ...unbelievably awful; deep fried haggis, with neeps and potatoes, both of which were lumpy and lacking in flavour... and again, no hint of anything green. The haggis was so greasy.. the worst I have ever eaten and we apologised to our French and American friends, telling them it was not usually like this.
Really liked the macdonald hotel although very remote, but scenery was amazing... The staff were very friendly and helpful....
Was really shocked at the prices for bar food, £10 for a main, was very excessive!! And £24 for a bottle of wine was outrageous to. Also think in this day and age paying for wifi, is really not fair to the guests, being in such a remote area...think they need to rethink this one..
the room was lovely, but the bathroom was small, they should remove the bath @ just have a shower to give more room.
